অনন্তশ্রী ঠাকুর সীতারামদাস ওঙ্কারনাথদেব বলছেন-
“মা— এই নামটি একাক্ষর মহামন্ত্র। [চলতি বাংলা মাতৃ সম্বোধন মাত্র নয়]।



অ, উ, ম, নাদ, বিন্দু, কলা এবং কলাতীত এই সাতটি, সপ্ত সিন্ধুর মত ওই একে [‘মা’-এ] মিলিয়াছে।
ব্রহ্মের স্বাভাবিক নাম ওঁ।
ব্রহ্মময়ীর স্বাভাবিক নাম ‘মা’। একাক্ষর মহামন্ত্রের ঋষি স্বয়ং মহামায়া, দেবতা পরাম্বিকা, ছন্দ গায়ত্রী, বিনিয়োগ সর্ব শমন সর্ব সম্পুরন। এই মন্ত্রের গায়ত্রী-
‘ওঁ মহামায়ায়ৈ বিদ্মহে/ বিন্দুবাসিন্যৈ ধীমহি/
তন্নো পরাম্বিকা প্রচোদয়াৎ  ওঁ।’
‘মা’ নাম মহা নাম, এ নাম যিনি করবেন, তিনি মার কৃপা অচিরাৎ লাভ করবেনই । সংসার তাপে তাপিত, রোগ শোক পীড়িত, কাম ক্রোধাদির দ্বারা অভিভূত জীবের ‘মা’ নামই পরম আশ্রয়...।”

‘MA’ Mahamantra

Thakur Sitaramdas Omkarnathdev has stated—
“MA (मा) is single syllable Name is a Mahamantra. [It is not just a vernacular invocation for Mother].
A,U,M, Nad [Divine Sound], Bindu [Divine Light], Kala [Divine arts], Kalateeta [higher spiritual levels] – these seven aspects merge like the seven oceans into One [the MA Name].
‘Om’ is the usual Name of Almighty.
‘Ma’ is the usual Name of Almighty’s Feminine manifestation. Details of this single syllable Mahamantra comprise— Rishi : Divine Mother Mahamaya Herself, Devta: Parambika, Rhyme: Gayatri, Application: Universal. This Mantra’s specific Gayatri is:
‘Om Mahamayayi Vidmahe/ Vindubasinyai dheemahi/
Tanno Parambika Prachodayat  Om’
‘Ma’ Name is the supreme Name, one who chants this Nam will certainly attain the grace of Divine Mother very soon. For all creatures agonized by worldly pains, and tormented by disease or grief, and overpowered by inner vices-- ‘Ma’ Name is the ultimate resort….”
